YORK City midfielder Mitch Hancox has joined fellow Vanarama National League side Hartlepool United on a loan deal running until Saturday, January 6.

Hancox departs York on a short-term loan deal after making 72 appearances across three seasons with the club, scoring 11 goals in that time.

The midfielder was part of the City side that gained promotion from the Vanarama National League North in the 2021/22 season, and started in the play-off final victory over Boston United.

Hancox has struggled for game time this season having only made one league appearance, coming off of the bench in York's 1-1 draw with FC Halifax Town, but did feature in City's North Riding County Cup defeat to Guisborough Town.

The 29-year-old will not be eligible to play against the Minstermen on Saturday, November 18, when Hartlepool United visit the LNER Community Stadium.

Hancox also re-unites with former City manager John Askey, who signed the midfielder from Hereford in 2021 on an initial loan deal, with Hartlepool currently finding themselves in 14th position after four consecutive defeats following their relegation from Sky Bet League Two last season.
