SIGNING number seven of the Summer is through the door at York City, with midfielder Finlay Barnes joining the Minstermen for an undisclosed fee.
Highly-rated 22-year-old midfielder Barnes joins the club after a spell with Leiston in Southern Premier League Premier Division Central, having originally come through the academy of Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City.
Barnes had a spell with step five outfit Norwich United following his exit from the Canaries, before becoming a regular with Leiston three years ago.
Having netted 35 goals in 117 appearances for the Blues, Barnes has hit double figures from midfield in his last two seasons, with City fighting off interest from other Vanarama National League clubs to secure his services.
Barnes also becomes Michael Morton's seventh signing of the Summer, alongside David Stockdale, Cedric Main, Zanda Siziba, Levi Andoh, Kevin Joshua and Quevin Castro.
Speaking on his move to North Yorkshire, Barnes said: “I’m so pleased. As soon as I spoke to everyone at the club and heard about the project, I couldn’t wait to get here and get everything sorted.”
