YORK City's long-throw specialist Sam Muggleton has joined Evo-Stik Northern League first division north side Scarborough Athletic until the end of the season.

Muggleton, 22, has made only one start for the Minstermen - during last season's vital final match against Forest Green at Bootham Crescent - since arriving from Eastleigh last March.

He also played six games for Boston United during an earlier loan spell this term and made his last appearance for City in a 2-1 December 2 defeat against the Lincolnshire outfit.

Muggleton will join former Minstermen quartet Michael Coulson, Jamie Price, Dave Merris and Jimmy Beadle on the coast, as Scarborough push for promotion.

The Seadogs currently lie second in the table, just one point behind City’s FA Cup conquerors South Shields, who have a game in hand.

Former City centre-back John McCombe has been signed by local rivals Harrogate Town, meanwhile, as they look to bolster their National League North promotion push.

McCombe, 32, has left National League strugglers Chester, where he was captain, to agree terms with Harrogate until the end of the season.

The ex-Port Vale and Macclesfield defender could now feature when his old club hosts his new employers at Bootham Crescent on Saturday, April 7.
