YORK City Ladies made it consecutive victories in the North East Regional Premier League after recording an important league double at Castleford White Rose Women with a 2-0 win.

Fresh from a 5-2 triumph against the same opponents, the Minsterbelles this time kept a first clean sheet in the league this season while, crucially, returning with all three points to move up a couple of places in the table to sixth.

Megan Bramham and Ellie Regan were each on target in that earlier meeting – and both found the net again to open up a clear advantage for their side by the interval.

Former Leeds forward Regan has now netted four goals in her last five appearances.

The Belles’ next two fixtures see them square up against the current two leading sides in the division – Norton & Stockton Ancients and Durham Cestria – but with returning midfielder Nikki Brown being named as player of the game, and a successful week on the pitch which has brought six valuable points, they should be in good heart.

Castleford, meanwhile, have now lost six of their opening seven league games. This is also a much younger group than that which spectacularly rose towards an impressive fourth-placed finish last season.
