POCKLINGTON RUFC hit the front in Yorkshire One thanks to a 26-10 victory at Scarborough.

A bonus point for scoring four tries edged Pock ahead of Bridlington on points difference, although their title rivals hold a game in hand.

Despite missing a quartet of regulars on a stag weekend, Pocklington shot out of the blocks to lead 26-0 in as many minutes.

Teenage centre Jake Bishop raced over after only three minutes and scrum-half Charlie Rook converted.

More Pock pressure brought two lineout catch and drive tries for prop and skipper Mat Webber.

Fierce Pock tackling forced a loose ball on their own 22 and Bishop scooped up before handing off a couple of tackles and galloping 80 yards to score. With Rook adding two more conversions Pocklington looked out of sight.

Scarborough rallied after the break with fly-half Marcus Edwards kicking a penalty then adding the conversion to a close-range try from flanker Luke Raines.

But Pocklington regrouped and spent the final 15 minutes on the attack.

Fifth-placed York were 34-29 victors at Knottingley in the same division.

Selby started a run of five away league games on the trot with a stunning 29-18 victory at third-placed Bradford Salem.

The Swans thwarted Salem in the opening stages and then stormed into a 17-0 half-time lead thanks to tries from full-back Dan Porter and winger Ben Lunt, both converted by fly-half Josh Cruise who also kicked a penalty.

After half-time, centre Alex Webster crossed twice and Porter converted one to put the visitors 29-3 in front with 21 minutes remaining.

Prop Tom Bell was sin-binned and Salem scored three late unconverted tries, but Selby claimed a deserved victory.

Meanwhile, Malton & Norton were grateful for a late missed conversion by their hosts as they edged to a 31-29 victory at Old Brodleians in North One East.

Malt opened the scoring with a try by Rupert Garland and Ali Heard added the extras, only for Old Brods to level with a converted try.

The home side led 14-7 at the interval after another converted try on 35 minutes.

The sides swapped penalties at the start of the second half, with Heard kicking Malton’s effort. Sam Triffitt then scored after a quick tap penalty and Heard’s conversion made it 17-17.

On 55 minutes, Brods restored their seven-point lead, but a pushover try by Triffitt and a Heard goal dragged Malt level again.

John Dobson then gathered a poor Brods kick and ran 50 metres to the line and Heard maintained his 100 per cent success rate to make it 31-24.

With time running out, Dobson was yellow-carded as Old Brods pressed for a try.

The pressure told and the home side crossed in the corner, but the touchline conversion was missed and Malt held out for their second away win of the campaign.
