YORK RI RUFC are still awaiting their first win in Yorkshire Two after losing 34-12 at home to Dinnington.

The scoreline flattered the visitors, but they had the game won in the opening quarter as a much-changed RI side took too much time to organise itself and saw Dinnington race 20 points ahead with two converted tries and two penalties.

Karl Hart, playing in the centre, reduced the arrears with an interception try which Ben Hobson converted as RI dragged themselves back into the game, going close again through Nash and Hobson out wide after Alexander, Mallon and Reed had driven forward, keeping Dinnington on the defensive.

RI continued to exert pressure after half-time but fell further behind when, from a clearance kick from the visitors' own 22, Dinnington winger James won the race to touch down.

RI hit back on the restart after a break by Mallon was carried on by Stewart. He was dragged down short of the line, but the ball was rucked back and James Li picked up and dived over.

RI's makeshift side thereafter took the game to the visitors and at times only desperate defence kept them out, but a converted try at the other on the final whistle completed the scoring.

SELBY maintained their 100 per cent winning record in Yorkshire Two table with a 22-12 defeat of Knottingley, and stay top of the pile on points-difference above West Park.
