NESTLE Rowntree RUFC fell 42-24 to Burley as their slide in form in the Yorkshire Four Shield continued.

Trees appeared to be on their way to a victory when hooker Ryan Roodt peeled off a maul for a four-metre dash to the line and an early try converted by Dave Harder.

The team's discipline let them down and Burley took advantage of a sin-binning to score a converted try to equalise, but Trees hit straight back with full-back Morgan Cames slicing through for a try. Then, after a lot of pressure, Harder scored another and added the extras.

Trees, 19-7 ahead, were looking good and, with their defence holding out, things were promising.

However, a mistake let Burley in again and then another sin-binning saw the visitors score another converted try to take a 21-19 lead at the break.

Another good move saw winger Chris Cook go in at the corner to regain Nestle's lead and, with a bit of luck, they would have scored again.

However, the hosts were made to defend thereafter and, with injuries mounting in the home ranks, the speedy and fit Burley backs took advantage to score three converted tries late on to take the game away, leaving Trees with only a bonus point.
