YORK RI RUFC lost 15-10 away to Bramley in Yorkshire Four Premier - with their hopes of promotion now over.

Ossett and Wibsey have secured their places in Yorkshire Three next term, with RI's target now to finish ahead of the rest.

Their losing bonus point here keeps them third with four matches to go, although they were disappointed not to get more as they battered the home line before the referee blew for full-time.

RI were missing several regulars, particularly in the backs, and trailed 15-0 at the interval.

In the second half the RI pack began to dominate scrums and on 55 minutes a massive drive took them over the home line, captain Frazer Land claiming the try.

RI were now driving the hosts backwards at will, and the pressure resulted in a Rob Joy try bringing the score to 15-10.

They were looking for the winner, too, having turned the game superbly, when the full-time whistle sounded - with travelling fans believing it came early.

Next Saturday RI host Knaresborough.
