POCKLINGTON RUFC remain bottom of North Premier - and doomed to relegation - following a 33-0 defeat at Morley.

The visitors were off the pace in West Yorkshire where the home side - likewise struggling in the drop zone - had the game just about wrapped up by half-time.

While Pock are returning to North One East, Morley at least gave themselves some albeit faint hope of evading the trap door, now lying 16 points from safety with four games left. They have to play three of the top four teams in the table, however.

Pocklington improved immeasurably after the interval but it was not enough against a side who have also struggled for most of the season.

The Leeds outfit had enough big-game players to build a comfortable first-half lead, going 14 points up early in the game thanks to converted tries from long and short range.

Pocklington had a sniff of getting back in contention but missed a couple of good opportunities and Morley went further ahead through two more touchdowns for a 26-point advantage at the interval.

The visitors responded well after the restart and spent much of the first half-hour on the offensive, but they to failed to turn pressure into points.

Wings Jack Walters and Tom Richardson and replacement centre Josh Britton tried hard to find an opening while Billy Hardy did get over the line but was adjudged to be held up.

Nevertheless, the Pock effort ultimately came to nought and the hosts rubbed salt into their wounds in the closing minutes as they broke out and went over for another converted try to complete proceedings.
