SELBY RUFC'S hopes of escaping the drop in Yorkshire One were hit by a narrow 31-27 defeat at home to Hullensians.
The Sandhill Laners would have targeted this game for maximum spoils but the result left them second bottom still, six points from safety.
Table-toppers York, meanwhile, had the weekend off.
They were due to play an RFU Intermediate Cup group game at Gateshead but the tie was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
It has been rearranged for this coming Saturday, with the scheduled league game at Moortown to be played on a later date to be confirmed.
