NESTLE Rowntree RUFC only travelled with 14 men after some late call-offs but still won 19-12 in a friendly at Old Leodensians 2nds thanks to Morgan Caimes' superb late winner.

The game looked evenly poised until Trees wing forward John Neal linked with the backs and went on a good 60-metre run to break the deadlock.

Leos levelled when using their forward power to drive over but Trees soon struck again when centre Dave Straker stormed through to score, Jack Daniels converting.

On the stroke of half-time, Leos again hit back to level at 12 apiece.

The second half was again an even affair but it was eventually decided five minutes from time when Trees full-back Caimes gathered a clearance kick, somehow wriggled his way through the defence and then scampered to the whitewash, Daniels converting to cap a deserved win.

Meanwhile, York RI women continued their quest in the North Two East women's league with a 75-6 thrashing of Bishop Auckland.
