SEVEN-TRY York RUFC signed off the Yorkshire One season with a 45-24 win at North Ribblesdale.

The Clifton Parkers, who finished third in the table, led 26-12 at the break after tries for number eight Marcus Britland, Jeff Meredith, prolific forward Dave Bates and Charlie Nicholson.

The second half brought three further scores for the visitors, with Josh Britland chasing his own chip through to touch down, Hugh Nicholson following up a chip from Davis and captain Chris Fox going over under the posts.

George Davis kicked five conversions.

Malton & Norton went down 39-13 at The Gannock as Yorkshire One champions Doncaster Phoenix ended the season with a 100 per cent winning record.

The game was a perfect test for Malton ahead of Saturday’s crucial North promotion play-off at Morpeth, as the Ryedale side put up a serious challenge to Phoenix for an hour.

Malt took the lead when centre Siya Moabi sent full- back Sizwe Zondo over. Ian Cooke added the extras.

Cooke added a penalty, but it was 10-10 at half-time.

Doncaster moved 20-10 in front before Cooke narrowed the gap with a penalty, but then the visitors pulled clear as Malton rang the changes with the play-off tie in mind.

An error-strewn second period consigned Selby to a 45-24 defeat at Scarborough in their final game of the Yorkshire One campaign.

The Swans led 17-14 at the break with tries by full-back Josh Cruise and skipper Dan Porter, plus two conversions and a penalty from Cruise.

Scarborough took the lead for the first time in the match on 46 minutes and went on to inflict Selby’s biggest defeat of the season.

Swans man of the match Patrick Rowntree touched down in the corner and Cruise kicked a superb touchline conversion, but the visitors were unable to stem to the flow of tries.

York RI were 36-27 winners over Wensleydale in a pulsating finale to the Yorkshire Four season at New Lane.

RI’s Stu Watson traded penalties with the visitors before Ewan Metcalfe broke the defence to score with a 50-metre run and then Yohan Barthelemy cut through to touch down.

The RI pack drove the visitors back and Darren Lonsdale powered over and, after a Wensleydale try, Brendan Aherne outpaced everyone to score in the corner for RI to lead 25-10 at the interval.

Wensleydale scored three tries to lead 27-25 with ten minutes left, but Watson landed a 40-metre penalty and Tom Greaves kicked a long-range drop goal before man of the match Barthelemy crossed for his second try.

Pocklington finished sixth in North One East after a final day 33-14 defeat at Ilkley.
