Malton and Norton RUFC coaches John Liley and Richard John asked and their charges delivered with possibly their best display of the season to beat visitors Bridlington 18-7.
Games between the two sides have historically been aggressive affairs and this was no different, but excellent control from young referee Iwan Williams ensured it was a derby duel played in a good spirit.
Two Ian Cooke penalties broke the deadlock with the visitors further hit by a knee injury nto their scrum-half who was ferried to hospital by ambulance.
In the second half, Cooke's mazy run led to a try for centre threequarter Cameron Madden, Cooke adding the extras.
Bridlington winger Gary Stephens crossed, captain James Muro converting.
But Malton number eight John Dobson was credited with a touchdown after the ball was driven over from a line-out to ease the hosts clear of the drop zone.
