LONG-serving fixture secretary Graeme Lavender was given the Lloyd Owen memorial clubman of the year trophy at Nestlé Rowntree RUFC’s annual dinner and awards night at the Beechwood Close Hotel.
Tom Atkinson, who was top scorer and made the most appearances, won The Peter Cregan Player of the Year Trophy, while captain Chris Todd was runner-up.
St John’s student Will Ginns was named the best young player, while Jack Gabbatiss received the most improved award having moved from playing in the backs to playing in the front row.
Dave Harder was rewarded for his hard work on the training park with the Simon Whitter memorial trophy for training.
The club also saluted stalwart prop and president Bob West, who played in more than half of their games in the most recent season and has finally retired at the age of 63.
West came out of retirement several times, playing 138 games for them since he turned 50.
