YORKSHIRE’S oldest rugby seven-a-side tournament takes centre stage on Good Friday at Pocklington RUFC.
Held every year since 1959, the John Smith’s Pock 7s once again has a full entry of 24 sides as a mixture of local teams and those from around the country battle it out with invitation outfits in the cup and plate competitions.
The event has grown into one of Yorkshire’s major rugby occasions, with many exiles making their way back home for an annual Easter reunion – some even coming back from abroad for the weekend.
The draw was made by former England international international and rugby union broadcaster Jeff Probyn and includes seven former winners.
The action gets under way at noon on Good Friday, with the first game of the main tournament between Goole and Edinburgh University Old Boys.
Six hours of non-stop sevens rugby then follows, with the final scheduled for 5.40pm.
