A LAST gasp penalty denied York RI RUFC their first win of the season against Goole.
The home side went down 21-20 against their East Yorkshire neighbours in a game they led by 12 points with just 15 minutes to go.
Ben Hobson kicked RI in front after ten minutes, but the visitors drew level and then took the lead on the half hour when left wing Bell won the race for a speculative kick ahead. RI surged back into the lead when after a sparkling move in the backs, Mark Musgrave took the final pass to dive in at the corner.
And this was extended when Robin Grice who crashed over giving RI a 13-8 half-time lead.
RI scored again early in the second half through Paul Reed and Hobson's conversion ensured a 20-8 lead with quarter of an hour to go.
Goole closed in with a try in the corner and then stunned the home crowd by reducing it to two points five minutes later.
As time wound down, Goole were awarded a dubious penalty and Allen stepped up and put it through the posts to take the points.
