It says a lot when a prop forward can score his second hat-trick of the season and be overlooked for the man-of-the-match award and this time it came in a 48-0 York Groves win.

Rob Latham's hat-trick had a big part to play in the Pennine League division five defeat of Woodhouse Warriors - but it was 17-year-old winger Liam Withers who took the honours with his five-try performance.

Groves's strong-running pack had Woodhouse in trouble from the off as Dean Kilbride took advantage of a typical forward surge to offload to Withers for two scores and set up another with his boot.

Withers went on his own from acting half for his fourth. He saved his best try for last, beating three men from 30 metres out.

Skipper Danny Buy added a try in each half, Jason Dunn kicked three conversions and Scott Raven another, while Matt Corr and Alex Malham proved to be the defensive stars who helped to nil the opposition.
