New Earswick All Blacks ARLC stayed fourth in the Pennine League championship despite a 42-18 defeat at Ackworth Jaguars.

The White Rose Avenue side suffered only their second defeat of the campaign despite starting well in both halves.

The visitors took the lead with a try by Jo Hnesh, with Max Bracken adding the extras, but Ackworth drew level and scored three further tries in ten minutes to lead 20-6 at half-time.

The All Blacks started the second half brightly, narrowing the gap with a try by Jack Sinclair, converted by Bracken.

The gap was only two points when George Pallister crossed the whitewash and Bracken goaled.

However, the home side secured victory with four tries and two conversions.

Man of the match for the All Blacks was Jack Sinclair, who was backed up by Dan Wright, Dan Atkinson and debutant Rob Graham.

The York side’s ‘A’ team were hit by a late flurry as they lost 44-36 at home to Silsden in division four.

New Earswick took the lead after four minutes as winger Andrew Jackson crossed in the corner and half-back Liam Gargan converted.

Silsden responded with three tries in 15 minutes to lead by ten points midway through the first half.

All Blacks narrowed the gap with loose forward Adam Kirby racing 50 metres after breaking the defensive line. Gargan converted.

The hosts regained the lead when Jackson intercepted and raced 70 metres to score under the sticks and Gargan goaled for an 18-16 half-time lead.

Man of the match Kirby crossed for his second try early in the second half and Gargan added the goal.

Silsden responded with two tries, one converted, but the All Blacks refused to lie down and Gargan crossed for a try he also converted.

The visitors scored an unconverted try, but Gargan bagged his second converted try after a superb offload from full-back Ben Cooper.

However, Silsden snatched victory with three unconverted tries in the final eight minutes.

Division two leaders Selby Warriors suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 28-16 at Odsal Sedbergh.

The division seven game between Warriors ‘A’ and Thornhill Trojans ‘A’ was postponed.

In the Yorkshire Men’s League, York Acorn ‘A’ lost 34-10 at Hunslet Warriors ‘A’.

Acorn were well led by man of the match Carl Loft, and he was well supported by Nick Speck and Dean Crump. The Blue and Golds’ points came from a Callum Hannigan try, which was goaled by Stephen Waldron, and a touchdown by centre Paul Cross.

Heworth ‘A’ lost 32-20 at home to Oulton Raiders ‘A’.
