Super League sponsor Engage Mutual has launched a makeover project aimed at all amateur rugby league clubs encouraging volunteers to sign up for an ‘engage with your club’ day.

Two clubs will also receive a makeover worth up to £5,000 for their facilities.

Amateur clubs – or community clubs, as the Rugby Football League now calls them – are being encouraged to organise a volunteer day where supporters, friends, family and people from the local community can work on renovations or improvements to facilities.

To take part, clubs must register by noon on July 6 at www.engagemutual.com/rugby, where more information is also available. The first 35 to do so will receive a support pack including T-shirts, posters and a donation to spend on equipment and materials.

Clubs can also apply to win one of two makeovers each worth up to £5,000. To apply, clubs must explain in fewer than 500 words why they deserve to win. Photos can also be supplied.

Engage is providing clubs with online guidance on how to run their action day, in a scheme backed by former Great Britain captain and coach Brian Noble.

He said: “Community and youth teams are hugely important to the future of the game.

“This initiative is about inspiring communities to recognise the importance of their local teams and come together to help revitalise facilities.”
