YORK City Knights have kicked off their recruitment for 2020 by agreeing a new one-year deal with powerful prop forward Jack Teanby.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a fine debut season at the Knights, scoring four tries in 19 appearances to date and producing a number of high-impact performances.

Teanby joined the Knights from Dewsbury Rams ahead of the 2019 season, bringing with him 70 games of Championship experience since his 2016 debut, scoring nine tries in that time.

Knights head coach James Ford said: “It’s great to get Jack sorted. He is good in contact and plays with lots of intensity.

“He is already an established Championship forward despite his age and I believe he still has plenty more development in him as long as he continues to work hard at his game.”

Teanby himself is looking forward to the move. He said: “I’m delighted to extend my time at York. I’ve really enjoyed my development at the club both individually and as part of this team.

“Hopefully we can push on and finish this season strongly and continue that winning mentality in the new stadium.”

The Knights are next in action on Sunday when they visit Betfred Championship rivals Swinton Lions.

Meanwhile, season ticket renewals for next year are on sale now, with prices frozen until July 31.
