THE funeral of York RL 'Legend' Jim Bone will take place on Tuesday, January 22 at York Crematorium, starting at 2.20pm.

As reported by The Press, the former York club physio and long-time sponsor of rugby league at all levels in the Minster city, died last weekend, aged 81.

Anyone attending is asked to wear rugby or sport colours rather than black ties. They are also asked not to take photos of the family to respect their privacy.

It has been requested that any donations go to York City Knights Foundation, Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire and Three Hagges Wood-Meadow. Family flowers only.

The reception afterwards will be held at the Bay Horse, Fulford.

Mr Bone was inducted into the York RL Legends roster in 2015, and tributes flooded in following his death, with York Hall of Famer Mick Ramsden summing it up when saying: "Jim was known and loved by so many people involved in the game in York."

Former York and Hull star Kevin Harkin, a player at Clarence Street during Mr Bone's days as physio and a friend until his death, said, simply: "RIP Jim Bone, Mr York Rugby League."
