SAM Cooper’s late try gave New Earswick All Blacks victory in a top-of-the-table clash with local rivals Heworth.
Heworth led 20-18 with just minutes to go after tries from Adam Dent, Fergus Chapman, Jake Atkinson, and Joe Deighton - who also added two goals.
But the All Blacks had stayed in the game with tries from Jack Carling (2), Alex Wilkins, and three goals from Conor Calam.
Heworth looked to close the game out but the All Blacks snatched the points in the final play. Ewen Coverdale’s angled run drew two defenders and put winger Cooper away in the corner.
The 22-20 win puts the All Blacks two points clear at the top of Yorkshire Men’s League division one.
