YORK Groves ARLC are hoping a boost off the field can help bring success on it.

The Terriers will have their promotion credentials in Pennine League division five tested to the full on Saturday when they visit unbeaten table-toppers Sheffield Hillsborough Hawks.

But they are in buoyant mood after last week's impressive win at West Craven, a result which cemented third place, and they have also been boosted by sponsorship from York-based Corries Solicitors.

Corries spokesperson Kim Daniells said: "We're keen to support amateur sports clubs in York. Groves are a long-standing club and we thought it was good to give them help rather than see them struggle financially.

"We hope they go from strength to strength because it's good to know community clubs are alive and well in York. It's important people know the club is there and doing well."

Groves will have to do especially well to get a result against a Hillsborough side who have won all 14 of their matches this season, scoring an average of nearly 40 points per game.

But they will not be overawed and the team that performed with such credit last week will be supplemented by the returns of Andy Rayner, Paul Sawyer and Mark Arnold.

Coaches Simon Moat and Dean Kilbride will be looking for centres Matt Withers and Chris Corr to continue their good form, along with forwards Rob Latham and Neil Gulliver, who have been instrumental in setting the platform for half-backs Danny Buy and Kilbride to exploit.
