JACK STEARMAN was the hero as New Earswick All Blacks reached the York and District Cup final, overcoming a brave performance by York Acorn A'.

The teenage prop scored four tries as All Blacks won 34-12, a scoreline that flattered the hosts as they set a final date with Heworth A', who beat York Groves in the other semi.

All Blacks play three tiers above Acorn A' in the Pennine League but they only made the game safe in the final quarter.

Stearman crashed over on four minutes to open the scoring, Ben Jones converting, but Acorn were level midway through the first half after All Blacks full-back Steve Perks spilled the ball near his own posts.

Hooker Tom Hodgson and centre Carl Pallister combined to send winger Dean Smith over at the corner for a 10-6 half-time lead for All Blacks, and they extended the lead as Stearman got his second try on 54 minutes.

A converted Acorn try brought them right back in it at the hour-mark but Stearman raced over from 20 yards to complete his hat-trick and, with 12 minutes left, Pallister - who was excellent throughout - sent winger Tom Dale in at the corner for his first try for the club on his first start.

Jones followed his own kick through to score under the posts, Pallister converting, and, in the last minute, man of the match Stearman got his fourth try, Hodgson converting.
