HUNTINGTON Rovers hit back from 2-0 down to beat St Clement’s in round one of the York FA Saturday Senior Cup.

Hosts Saints saw their early advantage wiped out by a three-goal Rovers rush as Gary Newton, Ash Hill and Jon James netted.

Huntington made it safe with a second from James and a Lee Bunce goal before St Clement’s scored a late consolation.

York Minster Engineering League premier division champions Dunnington were comfortable 3-0 winners over hosts Copmanthorpe thanks to first half goals from Tom Matthews, Tom Richards and Olly Newby.

Promoted Osbaldwick got off to a flying start against Selby RSSC, winning 4-0 with goals from Nick Lawrie (2), Tom Wheatland and Andy Bilton.

Brooklyn were 3-1 victors at Pocklington Town thanks to efforts from Mike Brown, Andy Metcalfe and Jonny Dunning.

Dringhouses had no problem at Tockwith, winning 4-1 with a brace from Lee Fisher and one each from Jimmy Clamp and Dave Watson.

Ben Tobin replied with a goal for Tockwith.

A brace of goals for Malton & Norton’s Simon Reeves almost won their tie with Hamilton Panthers.

However, the visitors levelled at 2-2 with five minutes remaining and went on to win 5-4 on penalties.

A Jordan Grose hat-trick allowed Easingwold Town to edge past York St John University 5-4 and book their place in round two.

There were two high fives for Haxby United in the York FA Saturday Junior Cup with round one wins for the firsts and reserves.

The first team beat Huby United 5-1 thanks to goals by Mark Scoreby (2), Paul Scaith, Paul Holmes and Jason Kenny.

The second string saw off Stamford Bridge Reserves 5-3 as Ben Drummond and Tom Kilvington bagged a brace apiece to add to a Shane Hogg goal.

Bishop Wilton trounced ten-man Huby United Reserves 17-0 with Knowles brothers Tom and Josh scoring nine between them.

In a scrappy game, hosts Cliffe beat Rufforth United 2-1 thanks to a brace from Chris Jackson, while Steve Gagon scored for Rufforth.

Cliffe Reserves drew 3-3 with Tockwith Reserves and hero of the day was Cliffe ’keeper Ally Harris, who saved two spot kicks in their 4-1 shoot-out win.

Wigginton Grasshoppers Reserves overcame Poppleton Reserves 2-0 with first-half goals from Tom Derbyshire and Rob Orr.

Sporting Knavesmire, reduced to ten men through injury, went down 2-1 against Dringhouses Reserves.

First half strikes from Wayne Carter and Neil Ducey were enough to see Dringhouses through, although Knavesmire pulled a goal back through James Windle.

York Acorn beat Tadcaster Magnets 5-1 with goals from Lee Jacobs (2), Andy Dutton, Tom Connor Larner and Connor Ryan.

Huntington Reserves smashed seven past Rufforth United Reserves, with James Edmonds grabbing four.

A last-minute winner by Scott Simpson gave Slingsby a 4-3 win at Hamilton Panthers Reserves.

Strensall thumped Malton & Norton Reserves 9-1, with both Joe Davison and Jonny Cooper grabbing hat-tricks.
