TOCKWITH Junior Football Club are the North Riding County FA's Charter Standard Community Club of the Year 2014.

County FA chairman Len Scott presented Tockwith chairman Mike Corbett and secretary Gary Allam with the McDonalds award for the North Riding area at county headquarters in Stokesley.

The FA Charter Standard kitemark is awarded to football clubs who provide a high quality football experience.

Accredited clubs are proven to be well run, sustainable, and importantly place child protection, quality coaching and safety paramount.

Community Clubs are the top level of the system. These must have at least ten teams, provide for male and female football, mini-soccer and have an advanced development plan.

Coaches and volunteers take part in specialist workshops and coaching advancement courses.

Of the 37,000 or so football clubs in England, 4,500 are Charter Standard, but only 460 are Community Standard.

A Tockwith spokesman said: "The day was topped off with Tockwith being awarded Regional FA Charter Standard Club of the Year.

"Being recognised as the best club in the north of England is something to be proud of. Well done players, parents, coaches, managers and volunteers."
