YORK City Baths Club’s Samuel Pickup won the top ten-year-old boy trophy at Doncaster Dartes’ annual B/C Grade Sprint Gala in Beverley.

Pickup out-swam the other 20 competitors in his age group, gaining medals in all five of his events.

He won gold with a personal best in the individual medley (B), silver in the backstroke (C) and bronze in the butterfly (B), while winning a fourth-place medal in the freestyle (B) and fifth-place medal in the breaststroke (B).

Leah Pinder swam PBs in all five of her C graded events, while other York City Baths Club swimmers taking part included: Nine-year-olds: Scarlett Rooke - personal best and speeding ticket in individual medley (C); Eve Stoneham - speeding tickets in backstroke (C), freestyle (C) and individual medley (C).

Ten-year-olds: Lucy Jordan - five PBs, silver in individual medley (B), fifth in butterfly (C) and speeding tickets backstroke (C), breaststroke (C) and freestyle (C); Elizabeth Martin - one PB, bronze in backstroke (C), sixth in freestyle (C); Ellie Nolan - fourth in individual medley (C), speeding ticket in breaststroke (C); Georgina Rooke - one PB, silver in breaststroke (B), speeding tickets in butterfly (B) and individual medley (B); Isabella Spenceley - two PBS, fifth in backstroke (B); Alandra Swainston - three PBs and speeding ticket in individual medley (C); Charlie Peach - three PBs, fifth in backstroke (C).

11-year-olds: Maddy Carr-Rushby - two PBs, fifth in breaststroke (C); Eleanor Martin - two PBs, fifth in backstroke (C).

12-year-olds: Bethan Morris - two PBs, fourth in butterfly (C), fifth in individual medley (C) and speeding ticket in backstroke (C).

13-year-olds: Katie Lund two PBs.

Out of a possible 80 swims, YCBC swimmers achieved 36 short course personal best times and recorded 13 new times.
