CITY of York Athletic Club youngsters Lucy Hadaway and Alice Linaker racked up personal best totals in the Open Indoor Pentathlon and North East Counties Championships at Gateshead.

The duo are both competing in their first year as under-15s athletes and Hadaway finished fifth with a total of 2,601 points, while Linaker was seventh with 2,581 points.

Hadaway ran the 60-metre hurdles in a personal best 10.03 seconds and leapt 1.38 metres in the high jump for another PB.

A throw of 7.16 metres in the shot and a long jump of 4.57 metres were followed by a personal best of 8.7 seconds in the 60 metres.

Linaker’s high jump was 1.35 metres and she produced PBs in her four other events. She ran the 60-metre hurdles in 10.06 seconds and the 60 metres in 8.6 seconds, while her shot throw was 6.61 metres and her long jump was 4.61 metres.

Matthew Richardson, in his first year as an U17 athlete finished third in his open competition with 1,743 points.

He clocked a personal best 10.62 seconds in the 60-metre hurdles, and also set new marks in the shot (6.88 metres) and long jump (4.53 metres).

His high jump was 1.50 metres and his 60 metres time was 8.93 seconds.
