Two service stations in the area are participating in the national Drop Kick Your Kit campaign to raise funds for the underprivileged in Africa.

Staff at the Station Garage in Station Road, Haxby, and Ryedale Garages in Piercy End, Kirbymoorside will be collecting unwanted rugby kit on behalf of the charity LV=SOS Kit Aid.

Donations and new rugby kit will then be sent to disadvantaged children in the UK and worldwide through the campaign.

Between Monday and Sunday October 2, customers are being encouraged bring clean rugby shirts, shorts, boots and protective gear to the garages. The first ten donors at each service station will receive a free copy of a rugby book.

LV=SOS Kit Aid works with SKRUM, a group which uses rugby to develop skills and runs courses for African children and young adults, in addition to encouraging HIV and AIDS checks.
