WOODHOUSE Grange Cricket Club celebrated a successful season on and off the field at their annual general meeting.

The Sutton-on-Derwent club’s first and third teams finished as champions of their respective divisions, while the highly promising intermediate side picked up three trophies.

Club officials reported a healthy excess of income over expenditure for the year thanks to a series of social and fundraising events.

Caroline Bilton was appointed membership secretary, while the meeting gave honarary life membership to Russell Bilton, Stuart Craven and David Farmer to recognise lengthy service.

Meanwhile, indoor nets will be held at Dunnington’s York Cricket Academy on Tuesdays from January 26 until Easter.

The juniors will meet from 6pm to 8pm, with the seniors gathering from 8pm to 9pm.

New players of all ages are always welcomed. Anyone interested in joining the club should phone Steve Burdett on 07876 225577.

The club’s annual dinner will be at Fulford Golf Club on Friday, March 12.
