WIGGINTON 3 took advantage of the reduced Bank Holiday Weekend fixture list to cement their place at the Tyke Men’s Tennis League division four summit.

With only three games played across the eight divisions, Wigginton went 13 points clear at the top after a fine 62-46 victory over visiting Strensall 1.

Key to their success was a sparkling 25 games from their second pair of Dom Wright and Ben King, while Ryan Gale and Ben Brown scored a solid 20 for the visitors.

There was no change at the very top of division two, though David Lloyd York 2 climbed to third with a convincing 75-33 win at Poppleton 2.

David Lloyd’s second and third pairs - Jack Hoare with Dave Thomson and Trevor Watson with Paul Harrison - both recorded above-par scores, of 23 and 21 respectively, but star billing went to the first pair of Freddie Booth and Jack Batchelor, who notched a superb 31-game haul.

In contrast to their first team, division eight table-toppers Strensall 2 enjoyed victory to put clear daylight between themselves and second-placed Dunnington.

They recorded a 64-44 win home over David Lloyd 4 thanks to a fine team effort, with winning scores from all three pairs of Clark Howard with Richard Harrison, Ross Welsh with Joe Vaughan and Tom Warrington with Tom Roe.
