UP-AND-COMING York featherweight boxer Cam Shaw is set to make his professional debut next month at a seven-fight show in the Minster city next month.
The showcase, fittingly named ‘Rising Stars’, is put together by Shaw’s manager Glenn Banks and established promoter Carl Greaves for Saturday, June 29 at York RI sports hall.
Banks said of protege Shaw: “He is delighted to be making his professional debut in his home city, and has already racked up a massive amount of interest from his home support.”
Also on the bill are two other Banks-managed fighters, Silsden heavyweight Danny Whitaker - also making his debut - and the experienced Leeds-based welterweight
Tommy Broadbent.
Scarborough light-middleweight George Rhodes and Bradford’s lightweight prospect Zeeshan Khan are scheduled to make an appearance alongside former English champion and former British title challenger, Hull featherweight Samir Mouneimne.
Leeds’ female boxer Sam Smith is looking to get back to winning ways after losing out to Miriam Gutierrez, fighting for the vacant EBU European Female Lightweight title in Madrid in March.
Banks added: “The show is stacked with talent and will be a brilliant night of professional boxing.”
Tickets are £40 standard and £50 ringside. Doors will open at 6pm and the first fight will be 7pm. Tickets can be arranged through Shaw on 07879 733 166.
