JO Powell and Joy Craig helped David Lloyd get off to a winning start in division one of the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League.

The pair were undefeated as Lloyd beat Pocklington 63-45.

Angela Wood and Yvonne Mannall scored 29 games as Wetherby defeated local rivals Starbeck, but it was a tough afternoon for Fulford as they were totally annihilated at leaders York, while Wigginton moved into second place after edging a 55-53 victory at Dunnington.

Lisa Hunter and Sheena Oddy included a 12-0 in their 24-game haul during Wistow’s win at Wetherby, which took them to the top of division two.

Lisa Garland and Liz Taylor bagged 25 games to lead David Lloyd to victory at Fulford.

Boston Spa’s three couples all scored at least 20 games as they kicked off their season with a 66-42 win against Rufforth.

In division three, Hilary Spencer and Rosie Somerton racked up 30 games in Poppleton’s 69-39 defeat of Bishopthorpe.

Copmanthorpe pair Laura Simpson and Amanda Robson top-scored as their team trounced Tollerton 73-35.

Wiggington logged their first win over Knaresborough, aided by a 22-game contribution from experienced couple Sandra Burley and Catherine Field.

David Lloyd 3 didn’t loose a rubber as they breezed past Rowntree Park to head to the top of division four.

Meanwhile, Gerry Screeton and Caz MacKender notched up 28 games to see Wilberfoss to a 64-44 win at Appleton Roebuck.

Rufforth are the early leaders of division five, with Denise Reilly and Judith Evans teaming up to score 29 games during their 74-34 triumph over New Earswick.

Katy Sykes and Sara Grinnell were undefeated as Dunnington despatched Cawood 62-46.

Lynn Kent and Lynda Withers were in form for Copmanthorpe as they defeated Poppleton 65-43.

David Lloyd 4 top division seven after Jo Dyer and Monica Smith top-scored in their comprehensive 76-32 win over Dunnington. Elsewhere, Appleton came out victorious in a closer encounter with Copmanthorpe.
