THE first of this year’s York District Amalgamation of Anglers' veterans' matches will be held at Laybourne Lakes on Wednesday.

The draw is at 1pm with fishing, on Marley Pool, from 2pm until 7pm. This is the first of 13 veterans' matches being held this year at Laybourne and it heralds the start of the summer match season.

The Supreme Angling Summer Series will begin on June 2 at Marley Pool. Further matches will be on June 30, August 11, September 22 and September 29. Entry is limited to 20 anglers with a £20 fee payable for the series and £15 per match.

The series winner will walk away with £200 and a trophy provided by sponsors Supreme Angling of Leeds. Match payouts will be for the first three places plus two sections in each match.

All five matches will count towards the overall result and York DAA Laybourne rules will apply. All entrants must have a York DAA membership with a valid Laybourne permit and hold a valid EA licence.

The first York DAA Members Only Junior Match will take place at Laybourne (Browns) on Friday, June 7.

The draw is at 5pm, with fishing from 5.45pm to 8.45pm.

This will be followed by the York Junior Championships (Open Match) on New Walk Terrace on Friday, June 21, and a second open match on Laybourne (Marley’s) on Saturday, June 29, with the draw at 10am and fishing from 11am to 3pm. In this short junior match series there will be a members only junior match at Laybourne (Marley’s) on Friday, July 5, with the draw at 5pm and fishing from 5.45pm to 8.45pm.
