CITY of York Athletics Club pulled off an under-13 girls’ 1-2-3 at the NECAA Indoor Pentathlon in Gateshead.

Emily Maude led the way by taking top spot with a series of really strong performances in all five disciplines.

The runner-up was Esme Pounder, while the pair’s team-mate Kathryn Clague finished third following four personal bests on the day.

In the same U13 competition, City of York’s Ella Wright came eighth after recording a personal best in every event, while stable-mate Louisa Birch produced a solid performance throughout to claim 17th place in a 24-strong field.

U15 athlete Fran Hogg maintained her tremendous form to finish top of the winners’ podium during her first year in that age category.

She enjoyed another couple of personal bests on her way to scoring more than 3,000 points, while team-mate Eve Hastie also acquitted herself very well during her first ever multi-events competition, gaining four personal bests and finishing 13th out of 29 entrants.

In the U20 section, City of York’s Lucy Hadaway scored more than 4,000 points to set a new championship-best total.

She also extended her high jump personal best by six centimetres, having not competed in the event for 12 months.

City of York’s Rebecca Lister impressed too on her way to a third-place finish, with all nine of the team’s competing athletes proving a credit to the club on a day that attracted 116 participants.
