POCKLINGTON skeet shooter Luke Young has made a promising start to the year as he looks to boost his international selection hopes.

The 19-year-old enjoyed his best-ever result last year when he finished sixth at the Junior World Cup in Sydney, following on from 2017 when he got his first cap at the Home International.

This year, Young has already claimed junior bronze at the Malaga Grand Prix, first place in Finland and second in Portugal - all events that British Shooting take into account when selecting for World Championships, European Championships and the Home International.

Up next for Young - a horticulture and landscape garden management student at Askham Bryan College - are Great Britain shoots from March onwards.
