YORK'S world champion kickboxer Zach Evans has made a success of switching codes by winning the Yorkshire Elite Challenge Belt at 69kg in Queensberry rules.
The Legions Gym fighter defeated previous title-holder Joe Garside from Eastburn ABC- on his third defence of the belt - by a unanimous decision.
Evans, 21, who won the WKL amateur welterweight world title in April 2018, is next in action at the Hvidovre Boxcup in Denmark at the end of March alongside clubmates Matty Ficco and Paris Smith.
On the same night as Evans' title success came victories for Legions ABC's JayJay Butler, Riley Rowan, Riley Edeson, Reece Fitzgerald, Matty Ficco, Riley Holmes, Brad Casey, Jay Carter and Joel Granger.
Reuben Smith, Jamie-Leigh Smith, Henry Marshall, Paris Smith and Alessandro Delrio were all beaten by tough opponents in defeats that Legions boxing coach Ash Martin believes worthy of rematches.
