CITY of York Hockey Club Men I are back up to sixth in the North League premier division after a 3-2 home win over Chester.

Despite a sub-par performance, a brace from Tom Feasby and an Alex Cockram strike secured victory in a goal-laden second half.

It took York until after the interval to break the deadlock when a well-worked opening on the left of the pitch saw Luke Ramli fire a thunderbolt of a pass into the Chester circle which Feasby deftly deflected over the keeper's shoulder into the top corner.

Ollie Couttie, Cockram and Feasby then combined down the right to see the latter net his second of the game with a powerful reverse stick shot.

Chester pulled one back following a defensive error shortly before Cockram restored York's two-goal lead, netting from Pete Fitton's through ball.

There was still time for City to make the game closer than it needed to be with another defensive mistake allowing Chester to grab a late consolation.

City II picked up a 2-2 draw at Yorkshire League premier division high-fliers Harrogate II thanks to strikes from James Fitton and - right at the death - Chris Newton.

York fell behind after being caught on the break but reacted well and won a penalty flick which Fitton slotted past the keeper to bring the sides level.

Keeper Dave Barraclough was key in keeping York in the game after the break but could not prevent Harrogate re-taking the lead, although his finger-tip save prevented them pulling further away.

And from a City break, the visitors won a short corner on the final whistle. Rob Newton pushed out to Dan Tomkins and David Clamp slipped it to Newton, who deflected it nicely over the keeper for a well-fought point.

Division one strugglers City III won 1-0 at Leeds V with Russ Bowry scoring.

City IV beat division two leaders Ben Rhydding II 4-3 at home. Chris Wilson, Chris Dutton, Matt Todd and Ben Foster were on target for third-placed York.

Fourth-placed Acomb I avenged a heavy defeat to Wakefield III earlier in the season with a 6-1 thumping of the West Yorkshire side at Energise.

The Tangerines took the lead 15 minutes in. Nick Linfoot’s cross found Matt Dickenson to smash into the roof of the net and, within five minutes, man-of-the-match Tom Brown doubled the advantage.

Brown struck a penalty corner in the second half, followed by Jamie Robinson netting from a Ryan Smith cross. A minute later Brown netted into an open goal after a nice pass from Linfoot.

The visitors got their consolation before Smith linked with Robinson to restore the five-goal gulf.

City V lost 9-1 at home to Chapeltown II in division three. In division four north, Rob Barker netted as City VI lost 4-1 at Wakefield IV while Tony Brimble was City VII's sole scorer in a 4-1 home defeat to Harrogate V. On Sunday, City VII beat Mirfield 4-2, with goals coming from Ian Wiggins, Graham Mackfall, Graham Cook and Neil Reader.

In division five north, City VIII drew 0-0 with Thirsk III while City IX won 4-2 at Boston Spa IV with Pat Birch and Rob Prentice netting twice each.

Fourth-placed Acomb II beat Boston Spa III 2-0 on Saturday with Harry Ellis and Andy Jarman scoring before going down 3-1 at home to Bingley Bees on Sunday with John Forecast on target.

Amy Birch scored a hat-trick as City X won 4-0 at Huddersfield Dragons in Men's Development north division. Tom Gilbert was also on target.
