CITY of York Hockey Club Ladies I let slip a two-goal lead in a 4-3 home defeat to Morpeth in North Women's League division one.

Emily Gee and Lily Rowntree put the hosts in control at the break but a sluggish start after the restart cost them and Tash Wiszniewska's goal was not enough to prevent the fightback.

York made an excellent start to the first half and Gee drove home City's advantage with a calmly-taken penalty flick. The second came when Steph Wilkinson smashed the ball into the 'D' for Rowntree to tip through the goalkeeper’s legs.

Morpeth clawed back the deficit after the break, though York regained the lead through Wiszniewska's superbly-executed short corner goal.

But two Morpeth short corners guaranteed the win for the visitors.

Already crowned Yorkshire Women's League division one champions, City II could relax into their 2-0 home victory over Pocklington.

Vicky Skilton smashed home from a counter attack in the first half before finishing off a good team move in the second to seal the points.

City III won 2-0 at division one strugglers Airedale thanks to strikes from Desi Willms and Octavia Neeves.

Acomb Ladies had two goals disallowed in a 2-0 home defeat to division one high-fliers Leeds III.

Kerry Woods' strike was ruled out for being too high and the spirited Acomb instead fell behind before the break.

After a second-half strike was chalked off, adjudged to have been struck from outside the 'D', the Tangerines' busy keeper Stephanie Barker was beaten again.

In division three, City IV lost 2-1 at Wakefield IV, while division four north strugglers City V lost 9-1 at Horsforth and division five north basement side City VI lost 3-0 to Leeds VI.
