CITY of York Hockey Club Men I's five-game home winning streak in North Hockey League premier division ended in a 3-1 defeat to Didsbury.

York dropped a place to seventh with the loss but will see a good chance to recover at the weekend when they visit basement side Chester.

The hosts looked to have started the better side and the back four's passing eventually opened up Didsbury. Mike Carter was played in for an easy finish, though the visitors levelled shortly after.

City enjoyed a good amount of possession in the second half but the Mancunian side took the lead with a contentious goal at the back post before catching York on the counter for a late third.

City II lost 4-2 at Yorkshire League premier division high-fliers Hull.

City III earned their first point in five games with a 4-4 home draw against Doncaster III. Ben Stafford, Jack Allerton, Zack Pierson and Pat Herriott scored for City.

In division two, City IV kept up the chase on second-placed Ramgarhia with a 2-1 win at Rotherham II thanks to goals from Chris Dutton and Henry Birchall.

Six points behind in fifth sit Acomb, who came back to beat Driffield II 3-2.

The Tangerines started strongly, passing the ball about well, but could not find a way through either from open play or penalty corners.

Driffield took the lead with 15 minutes of the half remaining with a shot from a narrow angle.

Acomb equalised as Ryan Smith found Jamie Robinson to net from close range, before man-of-the-match James Tindall found Tom Brown to tap past the prone keeper.

Within two minutes of the restart, Driffield levelled with a shot on goal that left skipper Craig Brown flat-footed.

But Acomb used both wings to mount attacks from Pete Hilton and David Richardson and, midway through the half, they struck their third when Matt Dickenson’s penalty corner rebounded back to him to flick into the net.

City V lost 3-0 to Worksop in division three. In division four north, City VI lost 3-0 at Mirfield while City VII remain in trouble following a 5-1 loss against Boston Spa II. Tony Brimble got the consolation.

In division five north, Acomb II lost 6-0 at Bingley.

The visitors fielded a makeshift formation with a few key players missing, but started well and kept the opening 20 minutes even.

Acomb's best chance came after John Forecast brought a fine save from the keeper and Rich Luscombe could only put the rebound wide.

Bingley took the lead following neat build-up play that found a free man at the back post to lift the ball over the stranded Mike Brown.

Straight from the second-half push-off, a defensive mix-up allowed a Bingley attacker to run through unopposed and slot home.

Just before the hour, Bingley made the game safe in confusing style. After the ball had gone dead and the Tangerines set up for their hit out, a Bingley player took a quick long corner and run through to score.

Three more goals followed in the final 10 minutes for an emphatic scoreline.

City VIII won 4-1 at Boston Spa III thanks to doubles from Tom Feetenby and Luke Harbord. Pat Birch netted for City IX to secure a 1-1 draw against Harrogate VI.

City X drew 0-0 at Ben Rhydding VI in Men's Development north division.
