THE semi-finalists for the York John Smith's Ladies' Darts League pairs competition have been decided with two regular duos to compete alongside two newcomers.

In the first half of the draw, Fulfordgate's Michelle Britton and Dawn Exton beat Acomb Conservative Club's Bev Harton and Pat Bowness in the quarter-finals before seeing off Marj Pearson and Jo West of Burnholme.

Harton played a stormer in the first leg, which included a maximum, but finishing proved the Acomb pair's downfall. Britton closed on double five before a double-one shoot-out saw the Fulfordgate pair progress.

Against Pearson and West, the Gate duo went one up as Britton closed on 78 before Exton finished on double five following a series of squandered chances by both sides.

In the other half of the draw, newbies Rose Gray and daughter Laura Gatenby of Acorn Rugby Club beat Beagle pair Nella Majsterek and Sue Tate 2-1. Gatenby secured the first leg in a double-one shoot-out and Majsterek levelled with double 17 before Gray's double four won the nip-and-tuck decider.

Gray and Gatenby went on to beat Fulfordgate's Cara Britton and Di Moreland 2-0.

Burnholme's Jane Dobson and Lynne Willstrop beat Leeman's Margaret Yeomans and Debbie Witts 2-1 before seeing off Wendy Storr and Michelle Kelly of Severus 2-0 in close matches.

Acomb CC's Tracey Farmeary and Jayne Janes fill the last spot following wins over Leeman's Jackie Gray and Denise Pittock, and Burnholme's Sharon Matthews and Sarah Jackson.

Meanwhile, White Rose League leaders Burton Stone Lane beat Ebor 6-1. The hosts had Toni Smallwood (140) and Chris Hedley (100) high-scoring. Ebor's June Mallory replied with 104 though Christina Davison was their only winner.

White Horse lost 6-1 to New Earswick Bowls, Indoor Bowls beat Holgate 4-3 and King William lost 4-3 to Bootham Conservative Club.
