DUNNINGTON took another step towards retaining their Yorkshire Premier League title by waltzing to a 5-0 (20-3) victory at Pontefract seconds.
Michael Andrews kicked things off in the round 13 contest by dismissing Billy Hawes rapidly and second-string Rob Downer defeated the hosts’ Adam Taylor despite dropping the second game.
At five and three in the order respectively, Ed Shannon-Adams and Julian Tomlinson also won in four games to put the result beyond doubt before the respective number-one seeds Sam Todd and world number 38 Chris Simpson took centre stage.
Fifteen-year-old prodigy Todd is clearly going to be a future star, but Simpson secured a 3-0 triumph despite being pushed all the way in the third game that finished 12-10.
Second-placed Hallamshire are nine points behind the table-toppers with five matches remaining after securing a confident 4-1 (19-6) win over Pontefract 1.
