YORK IBC Ladies fought back from 64-59 down with six ends to play to secure victory in their Yetton Trophy quarter-final tie against Barwell.
Sheila Turpin, who replaced the injured Helen Walker as skip, went on to guide her team to a magnificent seven and secured a fifth Finals Day appearance in six years for the ladies.
A tight game saw Turpin, Lynda Parker, Betty Richardson and Hayley Robinson trail 13-12 with six ends to play, but they went on to prevail 24-13.
Joan Jackson, Pat Potter, Zoe Eagles and Carol Instone were also 15-14 behind with six to play, before taking the lead with a four and eventually triumphing 20-18.
Another comeback saw Dot Kennelly, Maureen Walker, Melanie Brooke and Linda Harrison recover from 12-9 down with five to play to win 15-13.
Surprisingly, York`s strongest rink this season of Carol Banks, Pauline Armitage, Sue Kirkpatrick and Helen Wood lost 21-11, despite winning five of their last seven ends.
York finished 70-65 winners and return to the venue of last season`s success at Rugby Thornfield IBC on March 16 when they will play either St Neots or Norfolk in the semi-finals.
Elsewhere, York remain top of the Yorkshire League Division One table after beating Selby 99-58 to pick up the maximum 14 points.
At home, Malcolm Lewars, Jeff Normanton, Craig Newton and Tony Horobin led 15-8 and, although Peter Lund`s side pulled back to 16-12, the final winning margin was 30-14.
Alan Vowles, Neal Macdonald, Kieran Earnshaw and Phil Emmerson won ten out of 12 ends to lead 20-6 and proved too strong for Mark Hughes` team, eventually securing a 26-15 victory.
In Selby, Phil Parsons, Graham Brooke, John Crowe and Dave Stroughair were level at 17-17 with Michael Mansell`s side with three ends to play but pushed on to win 27-18.
John Whiteley, Mick Cooney, Mark Clarke and Jack Bird overcame John Phillips’s team 16-11.
In division two, York B’s promotion bid took a hit as they lost to second-placed Thornaby 93-80.
At home, Harley Wenham, Eric Hodgson, David White and Geoff Walker came from 10-4 behind to clinch a 26-13 success.
Allen Clapham, Alan Hampshire, Malcolm Harrison and Graham Instone slipped to 19-9 down with five ends to play and lost 22-17.
Away, Ken Simpson, Pete Riley, Gordon Fennell and Mal Bulmer stormed 19-2 in front after ten ends on their way to a 29-13 success.
Ken Griffiths, Billy Flavell, Ray Calpin, and Malcolm Thompson lost the first seven ends to trail 16-0 and ended up on the wrong end of a 45-8 thrashing.
York Vikings still lead the Yorkshire Over 55s League division one standings despite losing their second successive game - a 79-71 defeat to Hornsea Seagulls.
At home, Dave Dale, Barry Walker, Phil Wilsher and Jeff Normanton started with a six on their first end and ultimately won through 20-16.
Ken Griffiths, Instone, Roger Ford and Brooke fought back from 15-3 down but still went down 25-16.
In Hornsea, Vowles, Cooney, Lewars and Horobin came out on top 17-15.
Gordon Fennell, Trevor Wilford, Parsons and Whiteley were 8-0 down after only four ends and lost 23-18.
In division two, York Romans lost both their away games at North Cave Yellow.
Andy Lockwood, John Munday, Dave Clarke and Trevor Scott recovered from 17-1 down but were still defeated 24-21, while Pete Waring, Dennis Walls, Mal Rankeillor and Allan May were convincingly beaten 37-7.
At home, Colin Robinson, Ron Munro, Gordon Walker and Mike Snowden were 14-9 down with six ends to play but stormed back to take the game 21-14.
Alan Braithwaite, Norman Ellis, Alan Yoward and Ray Clark led went from 21-10, but were pegged back to a 23-19 triumph.
On Sunday, Ray Clark is organising a Charity Bowls Day at Thanet Road with Yorkshire Air Ambulance, St Leonards Hospice and Guide Dogs for the Blind the beneficiaries.
It will be held from 10am to 3pm.
