STRENSALL’S Chris Quantock has lost his tour card on the PDC circuit.

Quantock was bidding to win back a place on the tour at the highly-competitive Qualifying School in Wigan, where almost 400 players competed for just 19 spots over four days of competition.

But the 27-year-old, former Huntington School pupil could only win three of his seven matches, with his game averages ranging from 76.6 to 84.3.

Fellow York player Richie Corner fared better, reaching the last 64 on days two and three.

He also claimed match averages of 96.1, 94.8 and 90.8 in his respective victories over Scott Taylor (5-4), Mark Frost (5-1) and Ben Davies (5-2).

But Corner’s efforts were not sufficient for him to earn a tour card either.

Two more York-based players – Martyn Turner and Gary Witty – didn’t progress past the last 256 over the four days.
