LUCY HADAWAY erased Katarina Johnson-Thompson’s long-jump mark from the Northern Indoor Championships record books as she won double gold at this year's finals in Sheffield.

The City of York Athletic Club ace leapt 6.23 metres to take the under-20s title - and Olympic heptathlon star Johnson-Thompson’s U20s championship record in the process.

Hadaway added the 60 metres hurdles gold medal with a time of 8.74 seconds - one of the fastest in the York club's history.

Hadaway’s club-mate, Amy Rolfe, meanwhile, was third in the U20s long jump with a leap of 5.64 metres - meaning two City aces were on the podium.

Seven-time British champion Scott Lincoln dominated the men’s shot put event as he won by nearly five metres with a throw of 18.74 metres.

Christina Nick (12.79m) and Maria Schofield (11.79m) took bronze medals in the senior and U20 women’s shot respectively.

York’s Charlotte Stamp added another bronze in the senior women’s 400 metres as she ran 58.92 seconds.

Hadaway and Lincoln will both be in competition again at the British Indoor Championships in Birmingham on February 9 and 10.

Meanwhile, Josh Dickinson and Finnian Hutchinson were both victorious in the North Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships at Whitby.

The City of York pair claimed the senior and intermediate boys’ titles respectively, winning their races by around 50 metres.

York’s Lottie Langan came second in the Year 7 girls’ race while Martha Calton-Seal was fourth in the intermediate age group.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Mason came third in the Brass Monkey Half Marathon in York in a time of one hour 21 minutes 41 seconds.

This put her just 21 seconds behind runner-up Sharon Barlow (Harrogate Harriers).

Mason’s York club-mates Cara Gibbons (1-33), Joan Brown (1-46) and Liz Watton (2-03) also ran.

Alex Boynton continued his good form by finishing fourth in the Temple Newsam 10-mile race, clocking 1-03-15. York club-mates Nick Elliott (1-14-01) and Tony George (1-23-01) also raced.
