Louis How (8-56) finished sixth in the U13 boys’ race over the same distance, while Joe O’Brien was the ninth U15 boy home, clocking 15-09 over a 4.45km course.

The pair helped their respective York teams finished fourth in each age group, while the club’s U15 girls came 11th.

Led home impressively by Tim Stratton, who clocked 34-19 for 14th place over a 10.32km course, York’s senior men fielded a team for the first time in recent years and came 13th.

Charlotte Mason also ran well to place 13th in the senior women’s event, completing the 8.25km course in 30-06.

Meanwhile, York’s U11s shone in an open race held jointly with the Humberside Championships at Scunthorpe.
