STRENSALL retained their Second Division status in the final week of the Time Communications York & District League after an excellent 5-5 draw against Bootham C.

A treble from Dave Quinlan, supported by a brace from Nigel Reeson, were the highlights for the villagers, while Rachel Greener demonstrated her devastating attacking skills to secure two wins for Bootham.

Relegated Clarence C were badly impacted by the late withdrawal of Rob Farmery, and were duly thumped 10-0 by York RI D.

Mark Hughes was undefeated as Poppleton prevailed 6-4 against a battling York RI G, for whom Dave Smith underlined his improved form with two fine wins.

Shepherds A suffered a 7-3 reversal against two-man York RI E, with Tim Smith and Ady McClaren being too good.

In the Third Division, Clarence CIU posted an excellent 7-3 victory over University B, thanks to an unbeaten effort from Gary Bunch, although this was all in vain as Ryedale@RI went on to secure the second promotion slot as they whitewashed York RI H 10-0.

BT B battled to the last to avoid relegation and, although they defeated rivals Clarence E 7-3, they agonisingly fell one point short of survival.

A treble from Chris McLuskie was the highlight as South Banks A and Bootham D shared the spoils in a 5-5 draw, while a maximum from Dave Simpson could not prevent BT A suffering a 6-4 reversal against Clarence D.

Chris Hutchinson ended the season in style as a two-man Shepherds A defeated Wigginton & Haxby A 6-4.

York RI I clinched the Division Four title as they thrashed Bootham E 10-0.

Clarence F are also promoted after Steve Wands steered them to an 8-2 triumph over Shepherds C.

Wigginton & Haxby B concluded a promising debut season with a 7-3 victory against York RI J, and Clarence C defeated Trustmarque by the same margin.
