NEW Earswick IBC avenged defeat to Harrogate in the Yorkshire Over-55s League the previous week by beating them in the Denny Plate.
The match was tied 34-34 after nine of the 18 ends across the four rinks, but New Earswick then surged clear to win 78-48.
At home, John Harrison, Gordon Fratson, Colin Pickup and Bill Waldie, after scoring three at the first end, led from start to finish.
It was 11-7 after 13 of the 18 ends and they then won the last five, including a four at the penultimate end, for a 19-7 victory.
Dave Imeson, Dave Elcock, Mick Head and Paul Dawson featured in a close encounter, with the lead changing hands seven times in the first 14 ends.
The home team then picked up a four at the 15th end to take a 16-13 lead and went on to win 18-15.
At Harrogate, Pat Inwood, Dave Sykes, Andrew Fothergill and Kevin Liddell played catch-up after trailing 6-1 after four ends but when they picked up a five at the 13th end they took the lead for the first time, 15-13.
They then won four of the last five ends for a 20-14 win.
Bob Elliot, Rod Walker, Barry Johnson and Dick Osguthorpe also trailed 11-6 after ten ends but they won eight of the last nine ends, including two fours and a three, for a 21-12 victory.
