LEEDS United have swooped on transfer deadline day to reinforce their defence and beef up the final assault for promotion from Coca-Cola League One.
Nigerian international sentinel Sam Sodje, an uncle of York City front-man Onome Sodje, has been drafted in on loan from Championship promotion-hunters Reading.
The 29-year-old is at Elland Road on loan until April 25, but there is a clause which could be activated to enable him to stay with Leeds right through to the end of season play-off matches.
And Sodje could quickly make his debut at home to fellow promotion rivals MK Dons tomorrow.
Leeds’ centre-back Rui Marques is battling to beat a hamstring injury suffered in the 3-2 win at Crewe last week. Sodje is on stand-by.
MK Dons are currently four points ahead of Leeds, who are one place below the visitors in fifth. Victory – which would be the eighth straight league win on home soil – is vital.
