A STOPPAGE time leveller from hosts Luton Town stunned promotion- chasing Leeds United in Coca-Cola League One.

The Whites looked to be heading for three points - and second place in the table - after Paul Huntington's 27th minute header.

But, after missing a host of chances to extend their lead, the visitors were undone by Sam Parkin's headed goal in the fourth minute of injury time at Kenilworth Road.

Former United midfielder Matthew Spring showed the hosts' intent, shooting narrowly wide after just 50 seconds.

United should have gone in front on 12 minutes when Tresor Kandol, recalled up front in place of Tore Andre Flo, went through, but he lifted his shot over the bar.

Huntington nodded in Peter Sweeney's free-kick to give the visitors the lead, although he was booked for an over- exuberant celebration.

Leeds' 16-goal top scorer Jermaine Beckford cleared the crossbar with a 55th minute effort, before the Hatters piled on the late pressure which led to Parkin's 94th minute equaliser.

The draw moved manager Dennis Wise's side, who travel to Southend tomorrow night (7.45pm), above Doncaster Rovers into fifth place in League One.

The late Luton raid added to United's disappointment in a week which saw Bristol City striker Enoch Showunmi reject a move to Elland Road after the two clubs had agreed a deal.
